Over the weekend, Morgan and Sam had the opportunity to meet brothers from the Zeta Kappa chapter of Phi Mu Alpha! Iowa State's Cantamus and the University of Louisville's Cardsmen shared a concert together at Carnegie Hall. We were so happy to meet our fellow music lovers, and we loved their performance!

The Sigma Lambda chapter has invited Dr. Julie Sturm to become a Distinguished Member of Sigma Alpha Iota. We feel that Dr. Sturm has contributed so much to Iowa State and we are so excited that she has accepted our invitation. We will hold her initiation ceremony in late January or early February.

Each year, the Sigma Lambda Chapter puts on a concert to which all proceeds go to our national philanthropy. Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies Inc. mission is to promote all aspects of music creation, performance and scholarship; and encourage service for and through music on the campus, in the community, in the nation, and throughout the world. This semester, the Sword of Honor was given to outstanding Senior, Sarah Eckert. Last year Sarah served as our chapter's president and was critical in the preparations for Province Day for Xi B. She has also served as our chapter's Corresponding and Recording Secretary and has always gone above and beyond to help both the sisters and the Fraternity. On December 9th, Sigma Lambda initiation a new Patroness member, Dr. Mei-Hsuan Huang.  Dr. Huang is Iowa State's Professor of Piano and is a member of the Amara Piano Quartet.  She is in high demand as both a soloist and a chamber artist.  Dr. Huang is currently on track to be Sigma Lambda's chapter advisor.
